Our telephone lines are open 8am to 5:30pm every weekday, except for emergencies when we can be contacted on 01283 818124.

Extended GP hours

The new enhanced access service commenced on 1st October 2022. This has taken over from the existing Extended Access service – the service offers patients appointment times on the evenings and weekends at a centralised hub within Heartwood Medical Practice on the ground floor of Swadlincote Health Centre, Civic Way, DE11 0AE.

If you would like an evening or weekend appointment, please request this when you contact your practice. Details of your appointment, including the location of your appointment will be given by reception at the time of booking.

As part of this service, appointments will be available between:

  • Monday to Friday, 6:30pm-8pm
  • Saturday, 9am-5pm
  • Sunday, 9am-12pm

Surgery closures

We will be closed for training on the following Wednesday afternoons from 13:30:

  • Wednesday 17th September 2025
  • Wednesday 15th October 2025
  • Wednesday 19th November 2025

We will also be closed on the following bank holidays:

  • Thursday 25th December 2025 (Christmas Day)
  • Friday 26th December 2025 (Boxing Day)
  • Thursday 1st January 2026 (New Year’s Day)
  • Friday 3rd April 2026 (Good Friday)
  • Monday 6th April 2026 (Easter Monday)
  • Monday 4th May 2026 (Early May Bank Holiday)
  • Monday 25th May 2026 (Spring Bank Holiday)
  • Monday 31st August 2026 (Summer Bank Holiday)
  • Friday 25th December 2026 (Christmas Day)
  • Monday 28th December 2026 (Boxing Day – substitute day)

If you need help when we are closed

If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.
