Dear patients,
Dr Thorne has been a GP Partner at Heartwood for around 9 years. It is with mixed feelings that we announce he will be retiring at the end of June.
Dr Thorne has provided a dedicated service caring for patients in the Swadlincote community and also devoted a lot of his time teaching and supporting GP trainees.
He is a popular GP for many of our patients and will undoubtedly be missed by patients and by all our team here at Heartwood.
We wish him all the best in retirement and look forward to receiving updates on his new chapter in life.
Meanwhile, we’d welcome your best wishes via the link below, so that we can share these with Dr Thorne at his leaving party.
Dr Thorne has also shared a leaving message, please see below.
I have been a Heartwood GP Partner for 9 years and it has been a privilege to try to help so many patients over that time with a range of illnesses.
The NHS has changed over these years, especially in General Practice. Not all of these have been for the better but I hope patients feel that myself, and our team, have always gone the extra mile for patients and I have every confidence that my colleagues will continue to do this in the future as best they can with the pressures we face.
I have exciting plans for my retirement, starting with a bit of rest and then some travel to Hong Kong.
It has been a pleasure to work with patients in our community, with best wishes to everyone, and especially to the team at Heartwood who will be missed.
