Dear Patients,
From 1st November, the NHS is allowing patient access to their health records. If you are over 16 and have an online account, such as through the NHS App, or another online primary care service, you will now be able to see all future notes and health records from your GP surgery.
For most people, the access will be automatic, and you won’t need to do anything. Some people had proactively requested this in advance, and so can already access this feature, this won’t change for you. Some people will only see limited information if there is sensitive data within the record, and/or the patient is vulnerable. Patients can also request that the online access function is switched off if you prefer to not view medical records.
You will be able to see notes from your appointments, as well as test results and any letters that are saved on your records. This only applies to records from your GP surgery, not from hospitals or other specialists. Your GP surgery may talk to you to discuss test results before you are able to see some of your information on the app. You will only be able to see information from 1st November onwards, unless already had access previously.
The NHS App, website and other online services are all very secure, so no one is able to access your information except you. You’ll need to make sure you protect your login details. Don’t share your password with anyone as they will then have access to your personal information.
If you have any queries, please submit a message through our website and we will respond asap. Please don’t call the surgery as this will prevent those with medical needs from getting through if phone lines are busy.
